VEEGUM and VANATURAL products are natural smectite clays that have been water-washed to optimize purity and performance. Vanderbilt Minerals’ diversified reserves in the U.S. southwest are the foundation of our clay’s reputation for uniformity and quality. This secure resource base also enables the continuing development of new grades in response to customer needs. The ores used to make VEEGUM and VANATURAL clays are mined in Nevada, Arizona and California. They are milled in Nevada and shipped to the clay processing plant in Murray, KY. VEEGUM products are offered primarily for pharmaceutical and personal care applications, although they are widely used in other areas as well. All grades of VEEGUM and VANATURAL clays undergo the same water-washing process and meet the same standard of clay purity.

VANSIL® Wollastonite is a high brightness, white calcium metasilicate mineral mined and processed in Upstate New York by Vanderbilt Minerals, LLC. The acicular nature of VANSIL provides superior functionality over isotropic fillers, such as silica and carbonates.

DARVAN® Dispersing Agents are highly effective dispersants for mineral pigments and fillers in water-borne paints.

DIXIE CLAY® is an air-floated kaolin clay that is used as a reinforcing filler in a variety of coatings and construction applications.

VANATURAL® Bentonite Clay is a rapidly hydrating, water-washed bentonite clay. VANATURAL is a pure and natural suspension stabilizer, emulsion optimizer and rheology modifier for all topical products marketed as organic or natural. VANATURAL disperses easily into water and hydrates rapidly. VANATURAL also reduces the slippery or sticky feel of gums and polymers, while providing a silky, tack-free feel in topical preparations. This bentonite clay is synergistic with common thickeners such as VANZAN® xanthan gum and CMC. These combinations will provide greater thickening, stabilizing and suspending properties than those developed by the individual components of the mixture VANATURAL is OMRITM-listed and authorized by ECOCERT GreenlifeTM as complying with the ECOCERT and COSMOSTM standards for ecological and organic skin care products and cosmetics.

VANZAN® Xanthan Gum is a general purpose xanthan gum grade suitable for most household, institutional and industrial applications. The rheology of VANZAN solutions is remarkably stable over a broad temperature range and will not change significantly between ambient temperature and 60°C. Additionally, VANZAN has excellent freeze/thaw stability. VANZAN is recommended for use in both acidic and alkaline systems and will retain nearly constant viscosity between pH 2 and pH 12. Mixtures of xanthan gum with water-swellable clays or certain galactomannans produce synergistic rheological effects. The mixtures will provide greater thickening, stabilizing and suspending properties than those developed by the individual components of the mixture.

NACAP® is a 50% aqueous sodium 2-mercaptobenzothiazole. It functions as a corrosion inhibitor for water, alcohol and glycol systems. It is particularly effective in preventing corrosion of copper and brass. It is an excellent corrosion inhibitor for aluminum in systems where aluminum is used in the presence of copper and copper alloys. NACAP® is one of the standard copper corrosion inhibitors for the anti-freeze industry.

PYRAX® Pyrophyllite is a unique natural mixture of platy silicates, principally pyrophyllite, and quartz. This natural blend of platy and granular particles provides good reinforcement and abrasion resistance.

ACTIV-8® Drier Stabilizer and Accelerator is used to improve dry times in paints and coatings that dry by oxidative polymerization.

VANCHEM® NATD is a 30% aqueous disodium dimercaptothiadiazole that functions as a corrosion inhibitor and metal deactivator for nonferrous metals in aqueous systems. It is suggested particularly for protecting solder, aluminum, copper and copper alloys. It is more stable and active at lower pH values than many mercapto compounds.
