VEEGUM and VANATURAL products are natural smectite clays that have been water-washed to optimize purity and performance. Vanderbilt Minerals’ diversified reserves in the U.S. southwest are the foundation of our clay’s reputation for uniformity and quality. This secure resource base also enables the continuing development of new grades in response to customer needs.
The ores used to make VEEGUM and VANATURAL clays are mined in Nevada, Arizona and California. They are milled in Nevada and shipped to the clay processing plant in Murray, KY.
VEEGUM products are offered primarily for pharmaceutical and personal care applications, although they are widely used in other areas as well. All
grades of VEEGUM and VANATURAL clays undergo the same water-washing process and meet the same standard of clay purity.

VEEGUM

VANSIL® Wollastonite is a high brightness, white calcium metasilicate mineral mined and processed in Upstate New York by Vanderbilt Minerals, LLC. The acicular nature of VANSIL provides superior functionality over isotropic fillers, such as silica and carbonates.

VANATURAL is a pure and natural suspension stabilizer, emulsion optimizer and rheology modifier for all topical products marketed as organic or natural. VANATURAL disperses easily into water and hydrates rapidly. VANATURAL also reduces the slippery or sticky feel of gums and polymers, while providing a silky, tack-free feel in topical preparations. This bentonite clay is synergistic with common thickeners such as VANZAN® xanthan gum and CMC. These combinations will provide greater thickening, stabilizing and suspending properties than those developed by the individual components of the mixture VANATURAL  is OMRITM-listed and authorized by ECOCERT GreenlifeTM as complying with the ECOCERT and COSMOSTM standards for ecological and organic skin care products and cosmetics.

VANZAN® Xanthan Gum is a general purpose xanthan gum grade suitable for most household, institutional and industrial applications. The rheology of VANZAN solutions is remarkably stable over a broad temperature range and will not change significantly between ambient temperature and 60°C. Additionally, VANZAN has excellent freeze/thaw stability. VANZAN is recommended for use in both acidic and alkaline systems and will retain nearly constant viscosity between pH 2 and pH 12. Mixtures of xanthan gum with water-swellable clays or certain galactomannans produce synergistic rheological effects. The mixtures will provide greater thickening, stabilizing and suspending properties than those developed by the individual components of the mixture.


VANZAN

PEERLESS

NACAP® is a 50% aqueous sodium 2-mercaptobenzothiazole. It functions as a corrosion inhibitor for water, alcohol and glycol systems. It is particularly effective in preventing corrosion of copper and brass. It is an excellent corrosion inhibitor for aluminum in systems where aluminum is used in the presence of copper and copper alloys. NACAP® is one of the standard copper corrosion inhibitors for the anti-freeze industry.

 VEEGUM® HV Magnesium Aluminum Silicate provides excellent emulsion and suspension stability at low use levels. This grade is used in a variety of personal care and pharmaceutical products.   VEEGUM HV is a highly purified smectite clay suspension stabilizer, emulsion optimizer and rheology modifier. VEEGUM HV also reduces the slippery or sticky feel of gums and polymers, while providing a silky, tack-free feel in topical preparations. This smectite clay is synergistic with common thickeners such as VANZAN® xanthan gum and CMC. These combinations will provide greater thickening, stabilizing and suspending properties than those developed by the individual components of the mixture. VEEGUM® Ultra Magnesium Aluminum Silicate is a unique acidic smectite clay that produces dispersions in the 4.2-5.2 pH range for optimum compatibility with the naturally acidic pH of the skin. VEEGUM Ultra is the easiest of all the grades to hydrate and has a unique white color. VEEGUM Ultra is for use in any low pH formulation and is particularly useful in sunscreens, acne treatments, and exfoliants. VEEGUM Ultra is a highly purified smectite clay suspension stabilizer, emulsion optimizer and rheology modifier. VEEGUM Ultra also reduces the slippery or sticky feel of gums and polymers, while providing a silky, tack-free feel in topical preparations. This smectite clay is synergistic with common thickeners such as VANZAN® xanthan gum and CMC. These combinations will provide greater thickening, stabilizing and suspending properties than those developed by the individual components of the mixture.

VEEGUM® Ultra

VANZAN® NF is widely used as a rheology control agent for aqueous systems. It increases viscosity, helps to stabilize emulsions, and prevents the settling of solids in a wide variety of animal care applications. VANZAN NF is recommended for use in both acidic and alkaline systems and will retain nearly constant viscosity between pH 2 and pH 12. Mixtures of xanthan gum with water-swellable clays or certain galactomannans produce synergistic rheological effects. The mixtures will provide greater thickening, stabilizing and suspending properties than those developed by the individual components of the mixture.


VANZAN® NF

VANZAN® NF-C Xanthan Gum produces clear xanthan gum solutions for applications where clarity is essential. VANZAN® NF-C is widely used as a rheology control agent for aqueous systems. It increases viscosity and prevents the settling of solids in a wide variety of animal care applications. VANZAN® NF-C solutions is remarkably stable over a broad temperature range and will not change significantly between ambient temperature and 60°C. Additionally, VANZAN® NF-C has excellent freeze/thaw stability. VANZAN® NF-C is recommended for use in both acidic and alkaline systems and will retain nearly constant viscosity between pH 2 and pH 12. Mixtures of xanthan gum with water-swellable clays or certain galactomannans produce synergistic rheological effects. The mixtures will provide greater thickening, stabilizing and suspending properties than those developed by the individual components of the mixture.


VANZAN® NF-C

VEEGUM® Pure Magnesium Aluminum Silicate is a general-purpose grade that complies with the standards for ecological and organic cosmetics. VEEGUM Pure is a highly purified smectite clay suspension stabilizer, emulsion optimizer and rheology modifier. VEEGUM Pure also reduces the slippery or sticky feel of gums and polymers, while providing a silky, tack-free feel in topical preparations. This smectite clay is synergistic with common thickeners such as VANZAN® xanthan gum and CMC. These combinations will provide greater thickening, stabilizing and suspending properties than those developed by the individual components of the mixture. VEEGUM Pure is OMRI™-listed and authorized by ECOCERT Greenlife™ as complying with the ECOCERT and COSMOS™ standards for ecological and organic skin care products and cosmetics.

VEEGUM® PURE

VEEGUM® K Magnesium Aluminum Silicate Provides good suspension at low viscosity while having low acid demand and high electrolyte and acid compatibility. This grade is well suited for acidic pH pharmaceutical suspensions and hair care formulas containing conditioning agents.VEEGUM K is a highly purified smectite clay suspension stabilizer, emulsion optimizer and rheology modifier. VEEGUM K also reduces the slippery or sticky feel of gums and polymers, while providing a silky, tack-free feel in topical preparations. This smectite clay is synergistic with common thickeners such as VANZAN® xanthan gum and CMC. These combinations will provide greater thickening, stabilizing and suspending properties than those developed by the individual components of the mixture.
