VANSIL

VANSIL® HR-1500 Wollastonite is a high aspect ratio, short needle grade of wollastonite. It is used principally as a mineral filler and reinforcing agent to enhance mechanical strength properties in high build coatings, texture paint, block fillers, joint compounds and adhesives. In high film build coatings, the needle-like shape of VANSIL HR-1500 improves mud crack resistance and sag resistance, while also contributing to peak retention in texture coatings. The naturally high pH of wollastonite helps to buffer latex paints and coatings, which contributes to improved corrosion resistance and weathering. This also extends in-can stability and prolongs the lifetime of the coating. It is recommended that high aspect ratio grades of VANSIL be added late in process to avoid possible damage to the needle structure from high shear mixing.

VANSIL® HR-2000 Wollastonite is a high aspect ratio, short needle grade of wollastonite. VANSIL® W-20 Wollastonite is a relatively coarse (1 Hegman fineness) low aspect ratio grade of wollastonite that can be used as a general purpose extender pigment where ultra-fineness is not required such as texture paints and block fillers. The naturally high pH of wollastonite helps to buffer latex paints and coatings, which contributes to improved corrosion resistance and weathering. This also extends in-can stability and prolongs the lifetime of the coating.

VANSIL® W-30 Wollastonite is a medium fineness (4 Hegman fineness) low aspect ratio grade of wollastonite that can be used as a general-purpose mineral filler in a wide range of liquid coatings and powder coatings. It is used as a TiO2 spacer and extender. The naturally high pH of wollastonite helps to buffer latex paints and coatings, which contributes to improved corrosion resistance and weathering. This also extends in-can stability and prolongs the lifetime of the coating.

VANSIL® W-40 Wollastonite is a fine particle (5 Hegman fineness) low aspect ratio grade of wollastonite that can be used as a general-purpose mineral filler in a wide range of paint and coatings. It is used as a TiO2 spacer and extender. The naturally high pH of wollastonite helps to buffer latex paints and coatings, which contributes to improved corrosion resistance and weathering. This also extends in-can stability and prolongs the lifetime of the coating.

VANSIL® W-50 Wollastonite is the finest of the low aspect ratio grades of VANSIL (6+ Hegman fineness). This grade is suitable for liquid industrial and corrosion resistant coatings, powder coatings and semi-gloss architectural coatings. In powder coatings, this grade is desirable for smoother films and improved gloss. The naturally high pH of wollastonite helps to buffer latex paints and coatings, which contributes to improved corrosion resistance and weathering. This also extends in-can stability and prolongs the lifetime of the coating.

VANSIL® WG Wollastonite is a high aspect ratio, long needle grade of wollastonite. It is used principally as a mineral filler and reinforcing agent to enhance mechanical strength properties in high build coatings, texture paint, and block fillers. In high film build coatings, the needle-like shape of VANSIL WG improves mud crack resistance and sag resistance, while also contributing to peak retention in texture coatings. The naturally high pH of wollastonite helps to buffer latex paints and coatings, which contributes to improved corrosion resistance and weathering. This also extends in-can stability and prolongs the lifetime of the coating. In calcium silicate board and fiber cement, VANSIL WG increases flexural and compressive strength, reduces shrinkage, and reduces cracking. It is recommended that high aspect ratio grades of VANSIL be added late in process to avoid possible damage to the needle structure from high shear mixing.

VANSIL® W-10 Wollastonite is a coarse grade of wollastonite with approximately 20% retained on a 325 mesh sieve. VANSIL W-10 can be used as a general purpose extender pigment where ultra-fineness is not required such as texture paints and block fillers. The naturally high pH of wollastonite helps to buffer latex paints and coatings, which contributes to improved corrosion resistance and weathering. This also extends in-can stability and prolongs the lifetime of the coating.

VANSIL® CS-1 are made by crushing, drying and milling the wollastonite ore. The same ore is used for all grades, which differ only in particle size distribution. VANSIL® CS-1 wollastonite is not contacted by flotation chemicals or chemical treatments of any kind. Because it is milled natural ore, elemental analysis can show natural minor variations.
