POLYCAT® SA 1 is a heat-activated, delayed-action polyurethane catalyst that is based on a strong cyclic amine called 1,5-diaza-bicyclo (5.4.0) undec-5-ene. It consists of POLYCAT® DBU and an organic acid "blocker." At room temperature, POLYCAT® SA 1 has low activity, but when heat is applied, its activity increases and becomes comparable to that of metallic salts. When POLYCAT® SA 1 is added to conventional amine catalyst systems, it acts as a delayed-action catalyst. It has a minimal impact on the initial reaction and does not significantly affect the flowability of the foaming mass.
