Advanced Solutions MariMoist® (R10041) is a sustainable marine biopolymer derived from Chondrus crispus aquatic plants with bio-derived high molecular weight hyaluronic acid (HA), a glycosaminoglycan that is an important natural component of skin. Referred to as the “aloe of the ocean,” MariMoist® is a water-soluble, viscous, hydrocolloid-flowing gel with the highest standards of consistency, quality, and purity.   MariMoist® provides water delivery and a unique textural sensation, improving the aesthetic and tactile properties of finished products while helping to build “body” and impart a rich, luxurious feel. MariMoist® has been demonstrated to bind and deliver water for optimal hydration of the skin, scalp, and hair. Acting as a humectant, MariMoist® is an emollient liquid that instantly moisturizes and softens dry skin.   Applications for MariMoist® include an emollient and hydrator in skin and hair products and a formulation aid or aesthetic modifier of product viscosity and body. Compatibility and Formulation
MariMoist® is compatible with most conventional ingredients used in skin care products and tolerates well a wide pH range (3 to 9) in the final formula. MariMoist® allows the development of clear, high-viscosity water-based formulations. Compatibility in cationic systems and alcoholic systems varies and must be determined experimentally. MariMoist® can be cold mixed. Process at or below 60°C.

MariMoist® Provides the Most Fundamental Component for Beauty Enhancement: Water

Adsorption of Water (25°C, 75% RH)

MariMoist® adsorbs greater than 2.5 times more water than ® other marine-derived hydrocolloids, making this water available to the skin for moisturization.

Release of Water (25°C, 10% RH)

Over a 4-hour period, hydrated MariMoist® releases nearly 3 times more water than other marine hydrocolloids over the same period of time.

Safety & Health

Safety
Human Repeat Insult Patch Testing (HRIPT) under semi-occlusive conditions indicated that MariMoist® did not perform as a primary skin irritant or as a primary skin sensitizer at recommended use levels. Ocular irritation testing predicted that MariMoist® would be a Minimal/Mild ocular irritant at recommended use levels.
