MASCEROL™ Glycerine 99.7 USP, non-GMO, RSPO MB is highly refined with a minimum glycerol content of 99.7%. MASCEROL™ Refined Glycerine is used as a base ingredient in personal care preparations. It provides moisturizing properties and improves skin permeability. It is a gentle ingredient for anti-aging and anti-irritant cosmetics found in skin and hair care applications, shaving cream, soaps, and water-based lubricants. MASCEROL™ Refined Glycerine is used as an excipient in pharmaceutical production and preparations for improving smoothness, providing lubrication, and because of its humectant characteristics. It is also found in allergen immunotherapies, cough syrups, tinctures, elixirs, and expectorants. It is a tablet-holding agent and a key ingredient in soft gelatin capsules. In food as well as beverage applications, MASCEROL™ serves as a humectant or wetting agent, solvent, sweetener, or sugar substitute (approximately 60% as sweet as sucrose), thickening agent, or filler.

Because of its heat and drought resistance, it is mainly native to the Mediterranean region. Spain, Italy and Portugal are the main producing countries. The legume tree has large, black-brownish, curved pods with a bulging edge and a leathery skin. The beans contained in it consist of about 30% husk, about 25% seeds and about 45% endosperm.
