MucoPro 80P is a second generation hydrolyzed porcine peptone product. It is produced from intestinal mucosal tissue that is collected from dedicated West European pig slaughterhouses. This mucosal tissue is enzymatically hydrolyzed in order to extract heparin, that is used in human medicine. In Sonac’s plant in Burgum (NL) the hydrolyzed mucosa undergoes further processing steps like separation, desalination, concentration and spray drying. For improvement of product handling the powder can be granulated (new). Our patented production process delivers a tasty and unique protein product lower in ash and high in free amino acids as well as in di- tri- and tetra peptides. MucoPro is Sonac’s new natural protein. It is concentrated hydrolyzed porcine mucosal tissue. In dedicated European slaughterhouses the mucosal tissue of pig intestines is separated from the outer lining. Through enzymatic hydrolysis, pharmaceutical heparin is produced from this mucosa. The hydrolyzed mucosa is processed in order to remove fat and insoluble parts. Subsequently, the product is desalinated (a proprietary process), gently concentrated and finally spray dried (powder) to create an usable and storable product.
