PURE-DENT® Starches

PURE-DENT® Unmodified and Specialty Starches PURE-DENT® unmodified starch is produced from yellow dent corn. It offers high viscosity and excellent gel strength at an economical price. This clean- flavored corn starch is ideal for basic thickening properties in cooked puddings, sauces, salad dressings and pet foods. PURE-DENT® specialized absorbent starch was developed for plating and dry mix applica- tions. Its unique structure allows it to be used for carrying both oil and water-based ingredients. PURE-DENT® modified starch has exceptionally low flavor and whiter powder characteristics compared to unmodified starch.

PURE-DENT® unmodified corn starch builds high viscosity, a strong gel and is cost-effective to use. It is often used as a basic thickener for products prepared and consumed in a short amount of time. An unmodified starch or flour will not provide long-term shelf stability, freeze/thaw or steam table stability. The viscosity will not remain constant over time. This unmodified, dent corn starch requires heat to hydrate the starch granules. PURE-DENT® modified starch has a whiter color compared to a typical unmodified starch. Designed for good viscosity and high gel strength, this oxidized, modified starch provides adhesion properties for batter and breading applications. PURE-DENT® specialized absorbent starch was developed for plating and dry mix applications. Its unique structure allows it to be used for carrying oil, water-based ingredients, concentrated flavors and other difficult to handle ingredients.
