The flame retardant action of Portaflame® CA 13 grade is based upon its high char forming and glazing/fluxing ability in combination with endothermic decomposition. In applications such as polyolefin based wire & cable compounds, a significant reduction in the Peak of Heat Release Rate as measured by the oxygen depletion method is achieved. Portaflame® CA 13 grade is thermally stable up to 330 ⁰C and can used as FR in bitumen processed above 200 ⁰C.
