Technical Details & Test Data
- Processing and Performance
Paints based on Lioptal B 49 have a rapid film formation an curing and are especially
characterized by good gloss retention and white color stability.
Combination with reactive melamine resins (compatibility to be checked before use) yield
stoving enamels with good technical properties.
Lioptal B 49 is readily soluble in petroleum spirits but incorporation of small amounts of
aromatic solvents and/or glycol ethers for stabilization is recommended. Even when
combined with suitable long-oil alkyds, coatings with excellent weathering resistance (Florida
test) can be produced with Lioptal B 49.
For drying, we recommend dryer blends based on cobalt, barium, zirconium or cobalt,
barium, zinc. The cobalt content should be 0.03-0.06% (metal relative to nvc). Incorporation
of 0.04-0.08 % calcium has proved to be advantageous.
If cobalt ist to be avoided completely, we recommend the use of an iron dryer (Borchers Oxy
Coat 1101) in combination with zirconium and barium.
