AFCONA 4060

• AFCONA-4060 is an effective polymeric dispersant used to stabilize inorganic and organic pigments, as well as carbon blacks. Steric hindrance gives it fair stability performance with all type of pigments. This results in:
  • reduced flooding and floating
  • higher color strength
  • lower mill base viscosity
• AFCONA-4060 is a less polar polymer compared to other AFCONA 4000 series. The price for this product is relatively low, but better pigment stability performance may be achieved using AFCONA – 4050, AFCONA 4046 or AFCONA 4047, depending on the system.
• AFCONA-4060 is recommended for heat-cured paints, especially coil coatings. It also can be used for other resin systems as long as it is compatible.

Note: AFCONA – 4060 will become slightly hazy at temperatures below 5° C. This will not influence the performance of the product.

Addition and dosage: Add AFCONA-4060 according to the dosages listed below, which should be calculated based on the percent of active ingredient in the dispersant and the weight of pigment in the formula:

• TiO2 : 2 - 3%
• Other inorganic pigments : 2 - 4%
• Organic pigments : 20 - 40%
• Carbon blacks : 20 - 60%

Incorporation: AFCONA-4060 should be incorporated in the mill base before adding the pigments.

AFCONA-4060 should be stored in a cool, dry place. When kept in its original, unopened container, it will keep up to 5 years from the date of manufacture. The expiration date is indicated on the container.
