Crys-TalcĀ® 4H-4HC

Sold by Magris Performance Materials

Crys-TalcĀ® 4H-4HC is a high-purity, high-brightness, platy, medium-sized talc used in interior and exterior coating, adhesive, and sealant formulations to reduce hard settling, improve sag resistance, and maximize prime pigment extension. Crys-TalcĀ® 4H is used in solid-color and semitransparent wood stains to prevent tannin bleed and improve gloss uniformity without introducing abrasive characteristics. Crys-TalcĀ® 4H has a platy, hydrophobic structure used in  architectural and industrial primers to improve barrier properties which impart corrosion resistance and stain blocking  ability.

Applications

Crys-TalcĀ® 4H can also be used in polymer applications for improving stiffness, HDT, and dimensional stability in natural color applications requiring higher brightness. It is used in polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC and other plastic based applications to achieve maximum stiffness and is available in densified or compacted form to improve feeding, enhance extrusion throughput and reduce dusting. Crys-TalcĀ® 4H may also be use in rigid packaging, appliances, and thermoformed products to:

  • increase modulus of elasticity, modulus of rupture, and HDT
  • reduce water diffusion, weight gain and swell in water, loss of elasticity and rupture modulus in moist environments
  • improve warpage, creep, dimensional stability and elastic recovery
