Products in Foam Additives: Silicones

WACKER® TPR is a versatile product used in various applications such as car care, car polishes, paint preservatives, plastic-care products, polyurethane processing, and surface care. It is a reaction product of silicone resin with silicone fluids, resulting in the formation of water-repellent release films. These films exhibit significantly better affinity compared to polydimethylsiloxanes and many organomodified silicone fluids of similar viscosity.

WACKER® TPD is an aminoalkyl-functional polydimethylsiloxane used for the formulation of release agents for polyurethane processing. WACKER® TPD exhibits excellent release properties and, when handled properly, prevents release agent buildup on the mold. It is particularly advantageous when a very smooth and shiny surface is required for the molded parts.

Antimussol® PM01 Liquid is a milk-white, low-viscosity silicone antifoam emulsion meticulously crafted for use in pulp plants. Primarily serving as an antifoam agent and drainage aid, it can be added at various stages throughout the manufacturing process in pulp mills, making it an indispensable tool for foam control and efficient pulp production.

PEL-SIL™ 9868 is a silicone surfactant that is polyol compatible and especially designed for compatibility with pentane. It is useful in appliance insulation formulations and laminated continuous rigid board foam. PEL-SIL™ 9868 is designed to maximize the k-factor in initial and long term aging in pentane blown foam. With the above blowing agent it will produce foam with excellent flow characteristics, a high percent of closed cells and improved compressive properties.

PEL-SIL™ CL360 is a organo-modified silicone-based additive consisting of a siloxane backbone and polyethylene-oxide (EO) and polypropylene oxide (PO) side chains. It has pendant molecular structure. PEL-SIL™ CL360 is an excellent flow and leveling agent for solvent-based coatings and inks. It can also be used as defoamer or anti-foaming agent for waterborne coatings systems. It can be used at low dosage levels. For polyurethane foam coatings, PEL-SIL™ CL360 acts a surfactant and foam cell stabilizer. It is not compatible on the isocyanate side and must be added with the polyol. It exhibits excellent compatibility with most polyol premixes.

PEL-SIL™ 1315 is an efficient isocyanate or polyol compatible, liquid surfactant especially designed for isocyanurate applications. In isocyanurate formulations, it will produce foam with excellent flowability under a variety of foaming conditions. Other applications include foam for low density appliances. Flame retardant transportation and construction foams, and high density water blown formulations. A good starting point would be 0.5 to 0.9% of PEL-SIL™ 1315 on the total weight of the reactants.

PEL-SIL™ 1316 silicone surfactant is compatible with polyols and specially designed for use with pentane in both appliance formulations and laminated continuous rigid board foam. PEL-SIL™ 1316 is designed to maximize the k value both initially and in long term aging. PEL-SIL™ 1316 will produce foam with excellent flowability and a high percent of closed cells.
