XIAMETER(TM) PMX-200 Silicone Fluid 12,500 cSt is a high-viscosity polydimethylsiloxane polymer manufactured to yield essentially linear polymers in a wide range of viscosities. The viscosities generally used in formulating polishes are in the range of 100 to 30,000 cSt. It is preferable to use a blend of a low-viscosity fluid and a high-viscosity fluid (e.g. 3 parts XIAMETER(TM) PMX- 200 Silicone Fluid 100 cSt and 1 part XIAMETER(TM) PMX-200 Silicone Fluid 12,500 cSt) to obtain optimum results in terms of ease of application and depth of gloss. The low-viscosity silicone fluid acts as a lubricant to make polish application and rubout easier, whereas the high-viscosity silicone fluid produces a greater depth of gloss. Since these polymers are inherently water-repellent, they will cause water to bead up on a treated surface rather than penetrate the polish film.

Shortly after the curing process, a thin oil film with lubricating properties forms on the surface of the vulcanizates. The vulcanizates are opaque and exhibit good mechanical and electrical properties, as well as very low compression sets.

ELASTOSIL® R 863/65 is specifically formulated as a high green-strength peroxide-curing silicone rubber. It is recommended to add heat stabilizers when operating at service temperatures exceeding 180 °C.

ELASTOSIL® R Plus 4305/80 is a two-component, high-consistency silicone rubber specifically designed for the manufacture of extruded articles. Cured articles made from this addition-curing rubber exhibit excellent transparency and display good to very good mechanical properties. This fast-curing silicone rubber demonstrates good to very good mechanical properties. The vulcanization reaction is significantly faster compared to peroxide-curing materials, thanks to the addition cure process. Additionally, no peroxide decomposition products are formed during vulcanization.
