ADM Maltitol Syrup 100 occurs as a clear, colorless, syrupy liquid. It is a water solution of a hydrogenated, partially hydrolyzed starch containing maltitol, sorbitol, and hydrogenated oligosaccharides and polysaccharides. It is miscible with water and glycerin, and slightly miscible with alcohol. It is non-crystallizing and is used as a humectant and texturizing agent in a wide range of products. Since maltitol is very similar to sucrose in sweetness and functionality, it is often used to replace sugars in sugar-free, no sugar-added, and low net carbohydrate products such as nutritional bars, hard candy, soft confections, frozen desserts, and baked sweet goods. In decorative cosmetics, they act as binders for powders and provide improved color and payoff in lipsticks and similar products.
