17 oz. aramid and "soft glass" fibers are combined to make a fabric that is stronger than pure aramid and less abrasive than glass fabrics. This material is impregnated with a high temperature phenolic resin matrix, which produces a composite with excellent mechanical strength at elevated temperatures and adverse environments. Applications include wear plates for conveyor systems, valve plates, and compressor and pump vanes. Variations of this material may be developed for specific applications.

BarrFlexTM U471 is an advanced para-aramid unidirectional material for hard armor ballistic applications. Barrday BarrFlexTM U471 consists of two plies of unidirectional product, cross-plied in 0°/90° configuration. Each layer is individually constructed within a resin matrix. The resin matrix retains stability at elevated temperatures while the product maintains structural integrity after ballistic event. Material performance is dependent on product orientation. Always ensure the fiber orientation is correct.

Eurocarbon BV Aramid 3029/10 is a single layer flat braid (non tubular), which have the same properties of excellent drape ability. It is possible to form an “L” profile which is curved. This behavior makes it suited to reinforce radial pipe connections. For sports the Aramid flat braid is commonly used to bond 2 canoe halves together. Then the ±45° fibers will both work, compared to a fabric, which has one functional direction. Aramid fibers are very wear resistant.
