Lanphos TEP4K

Lanphos TEP4K is a phosphate ester manufactured using polyphosphoric acid resulting in a product that is predominantly mono-ester. The main advantage of a phosphate ester over a conventional anionic is it’s excellent stability in high concentration of acid, alkali and electrolyte. Lanphos TEP4K is supplied in neutral form as a potassium salt and behaves as a hydrotrope for the solubilisation of both anionic and nonionic surfactants into high concentration of electrolyte.

Features & Benefits

Product Features & Benefits
  • A very effective hydrotrope for low to medium alkaline formulations, and will help to solubilize conventional surfactants in these conditions.
  • In high alkaline systems, micelles are formed and surface activity becomes more enhanced.
  • Does not change the foaming, wetting of other surfactants in formulations
  • Hydrotrope to improve the solubility of nonionic and anionic surfactants
  • High Acid, Alkali and Electrolyte stability
  • Compatible with high levels of inorganic builders such as sodium potassium hydroxide, silicates, phosphates and polyphosphates
  • Becomes surface active in highly alkali formulations

Applications & Uses

Product Applications

Typical application areas are:

  • Industrial and Institutional cleaning - superior hydrotropic performance compared to sodium xylene sulphonate.
  • Lanphos TEP4K is especially recommended as a hydrotrope for the solubilization of low foam surfactants into highly built liquids for applications such as bottle washing, low foam alkaline cleaning, and liquid machine dishwashing.
  • Metal Cleaning
  • Household general purpose cleaner
  • Carpet cleaner
  • Powerful hydrotrope
  • Metal cleaning

Technical Details & Test Data

Wetting Profile

Lanphos TEP4K isn't surface active at low alkaline levels as its unable to form micelles. This can be shown by the wetting profile below.

Wetting draves 0.5g/l

Lanphos TEP4K - Wetting Profile

However as you increase the pH then the product becomes more surface active and temperature increases can also enhance the surface activity.

Packaging & Availability

Packaging Information

Lanphos TEP4K can be supplied in bulk road tankers, IBC’s and 200kg nett drums.

Storage & Handling

Storage Information
  • Stainless steel, polyethylene or glass-lined equipment is necessary for the storage of Lanphos TEP4K in order to prevent corrosion and subsequent contamination.
  • This material can separate on standing and at low temperatures. May require agitation and warming prior to use.
