Product Highlights

BIO-MARINE COLLAGEN HAIR is an active ingredient with an extraordinary high concentration of marine origin soluble collagen – from 2,5 to 3,00 % - It is also of high purity. The collagen fibers are degraded by proteolitic enzymes known as collagenase. The collagen fibers, once they are producted, are constantly suffering a restore process.

Damage to the proteins (collagen and elastin) in the scalp from sunlight and environmental conditions is affecting thinning and loss of hair. This is a self-reinforcing problem, because as hair thins and becomes sparser, greater amounts of sunlight, in particular in the UV range of the spectrum, can penetrate to the scalp and damage the proteins in the scalp matrix.

Collagen is a fibrous protein which acts as a structural protein, holding the upper layers of the scalp. The essential unit of collagen is constituted by three polypeptides chains cross-linked in a macro-molecular triple helix. This structure gives to the collagen a great capacity to retain water, so collagen is an efficient moisturizing agent.

Properties

This collagen type has not undergone any modification in its initial structure, so it is kept as a long amino-acid chain with high molecular weight. This type of collagen has some very particular properties well known by cosmeticians such as:

  • It is filmogenic. The film of native collagen gets strongly fastened to the keratin layers of the skin and they have a high capacity for water retention.
  • Native collagen spread over the hair gives dry hair a smoother look reinforcing the cohesion of the cuticulary scales and keeping the hair condition and moisture.

The collagen´s main role is the maintenance of the hair´ physical, chemical and mechanical properties:

  • Maintaining the scalp hydrated, thanks to its hygroscopic feature
  • The collagen application gives a smooth effect on the hair structures, improving a silky sensation.
  • Promote the hair growth.
  • Protection power: the filmogenic effect helps the hair to defend itself from the environmental damages, specially the UV exposition.
  • Strengthens hair and increases the diameter of individual hairs. This is very important for hair loss and thinning hair because the increased diameter of the individual hairs give and overall full hair appearance.
