Products in HI&I Care: Sorbitan Esters

T-Det® SMO is used as a water-in-oil emulsifier or as an oil-in-water emulsifier. This product is a low HLB surfactant used in conjunction with an auxiliary surfactant in cosmetic formulations, oil field chemicals, plastics, household products, coatings, and textile chemicals.

Lansurf SML, identified by its chemical name sorbitan monolaurate, is positioned within the HIandI Care sector, specifically targeting home care applications in surface care. This liquid-form solution serves as an effective emulsifier in various formulations. With a primary function as an emulsifier, Lansurf SML finds application in home care, particularly in household cleaners.

Lansurf SML can be used singularly or in combination with the ester ethoxylates such as Lansurf SML20. This product is hydrophobic and finds use as an emulsifier in many waxes and creams for household applications.

Poly Suga®Mulse D9 is a PEG-free, nonionic fragrance solubilizer made from 100% biobased raw materials. It is hydrophilic, freely soluble or dispersible in water, and soluble in varying degrees in organic liquids. Poly Suga®Mulse D9 is used for oil-in-water (O/W) emulsification, dispersion or solubilization of fragrances and all types of oils. It is compatible with nonionic, cationic and anionic surfactants and is effective in systems with relatively high levels of electrolyte, acid, or base.

S-I 83 is a Sorbitan Sesqueoelate and they are low HLB non-ionic surfactants derived from plant sources. Sorbitan esters function as emulsifiers and work particularly well with polysorbates to form stable emulsions.

S-I 80 is a low HLB non-ionic surfactant used as an emulsifier or dispersant in a wide range of oil- or water-based formulations. S-I 80 can form water-in-oil (w/o) emulsions and function as a co- emulsifier for oil-in-water emulsions.

ECO Tween™ 22 is a 100% bio-based ethoxylated sorbitan ester derived from natural lauric acid and produced using the RSPO's Mass Balance System. This eco-friendly ethoxylate is highly effective in creating O/W emulsions, making it ideal for a range of applications such as air care, hard surface cleaning, industrial & institutional cleaning, vehicle care, and waxes & polishes.

Mosselman Sorbitan Tristearate (26658-19-5) are non-ionic emulsifiers obtained by the esterification of dehydrated sorbitol with fatty acids. These esters are mostly water in oil emulsifiers, but they can also act as oil in water emulsifiers when they are used in combination with the ethoxylated sorbitanesters.

Mosselman Sorbitan Monolaurate (1338-39-2) are non-ionic emulsifiers obtained by the esterification of dehydrated sorbitol with fatty acids. These esters are mostly water in oil emulsifiers, but they can also act as oil in water emulsifiers when they are used in combination with the ethoxylated sorbitan esters. Sorbitan esters are used in cosmetics, lubricants, textiles etc.

They are more hydro-philic than the sorbtanesters itself and are used as non-ionic surfactants and solubilizers for water insoluble active products and essential oils. In combination with the non-ethoxylated sorbitanesters, they can be used as emulsifiers for oil in water emulsion. Ethoxylated sorbitanesters find applications in cosmetics, detergents, lubricants, textile auxiliaries agrochemicals, etc.

Mosselman Sorbitan Monolaurate 20 EO - Food Polysorbate 20 (9005-64-5) is a bio-based emulsifying agent that is ideal for use in various industries such as chemical manufacturing, textiles manufacturing, water treatment, and more. It offers excellent detergency and emulsifying properties, making it suitable for use in industrial and home care applications. The product has a lemon to amber-colored oily liquid appearance and is compatible with polymers and resins such as Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC).

ECO Tween™ 65 is a 100% bio-based ethoxylated sorbitan ester derived from a natural fatty acid (palmitic acid). This ethoxylate excels in creating oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions and is suitable for various applications such as hard surface cleaning, industrial and institutional cleaning, and waxes and polishes.

Tween™ 85 is a liquid ethoxylated sorbitan triester derived from natural fatty acid (oleic acid), also known as PEG (20) Sorbitan Trioleate. It functions as an emulsifier and wetting agent, primarily used in hygiene nonwovens. Tween™ 85 is in liquid form and has an HLB value of 11.0. It meets sustainability criteria as it is majority bio-based (95-50%) and offers an RSPO grade option. Additionally, it is certified as halal and recognized as a safer choice.

Tween™ 60 is an ethoxylated (20) sorbitan ester derived from a natural fatty acid (stearic acid) and manufactured through the RSPO's Mass Balance System. This ethoxylate exhibits high effectiveness in forming O/W emulsions, especially when combined with its non-ethoxylated derivative, Span 60.

It is part of a range of ester materials, including sorbitan esters, mono and diglycerides, and polyoxyethylene sorbitol esters. These nonionic surfactants function as emulsifiers, detergents, spreading agents, and dispersing agents. Span™ 120, based on isostearic acid, is naturally derived and approved by Ecocert.

Tween™ 28 is a liquid ethoxylated sorbitan ester, derived from natural fatty acid (Lauric acid). It finds applications in hard surface cleaning, industrial & institutional cleaning, vehicle care, and waxes & polishes. Its primary function is as a detergent. Tween™ 28 is available in Asia, Latin America, and North America. It is in liquid form, and its HLB value is 19.1. Sustainability-wise, it offers an RSPO grade option and halal grades are also available.

Span™ 40 is a biodegradable surfactant based on a natural fatty acid (palmitic acid) and the sugar alcohol sorbitol, and it has been manufactured via the RSPO's Mass Balance System. This sorbitan ester is highly effective at forming oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions, particularly when used in combination with its polyethoxylated derivative, Tween 40.

ECO Tween™ 20 is a 100% bio-based ethoxylated (20) sorbitan ester derived from a natural fatty acid (lauric acid) and produced through the RSPO's Mass Balance System. This ethoxylate is exceptionally efficient in creating oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions, especially when combined with its non-ethoxylated derivative, Span 20.

Tween™ 65 is an ethoxylated (20) sorbitan ester derived from stearic acid, a natural fatty acid. This highly effective ethoxylate is known for its ability to form O/W emulsions, particularly in combination with Span 65V, its non-ethoxylated derivative. It is commonly used in vehicle care and waxes & polishes. Serving as an emulsifier and solubilizer.

ECO Tween™ 21 is a 100% bio-based ethoxylated (20) sorbitan ester derived from a natural fatty acid (lauric acid) and produced through the RSPO's Mass Balance System. This sorbitan ester is highly efficient in creating O/W emulsions, especially when used in conjunction with its polyethoxylated derivative, Tween 80.

Tween™ 20 is an ethoxylated (20) sorbitan ester derived from a natural fatty acid (lauric acid) and manufactured through the RSPO's Mass Balance System. This ethoxylate demonstrates excellent efficacy in forming O/W emulsions, particularly when combined with its non-ethoxylated derivative, Span 20.

ECO Tween™ 24 is a 100% bio-based ethoxylated sorbitan ester derived from natural lauric acid and manufactured using the RSPO's Mass Balance System. This ethoxylate is highly effective in forming O/W emulsions, making it suitable for air care, hard surface cleaning, industrial & institutional cleaning, and waxes & polishes applications. ECO Tween™ 24 functions as both an emulsifier and solubilizer.
