Processing
- Diluted with water SILRES® BS 17 is used for impregnating the surface of in-plant produced silicate based building materials. A sufficient and homogenious application e.g. dipping is necessary for achiving a good hydrophobic protection.
- Especially SILRES® BS 17 is used for the hydrophobation of clay based products immediately after production such as: roof tiles, facing bricks, floor tiles, flower pots. In order to avoid migration of fractions of the active substance onto untreated materials, equipment or parts of the production building via the gas phase, the entire production unit should be equipped with a local exhaust ventilation from the application of the impregnation agent onwards. The application of the impregnation agent in a separate room, remote from production and storage of unprocessed construction materials, is recommended.
- Diluted with water SILRES® BS 17 has to be used up within one month after production of the dilution. After storing for more than 24 hours, the emulsion should be stirred shortly in order to create a consistent mix.
Dilution- Drinking water is suitable for dilution of SILRES® BS 17. When mixing the SILRES® BS 17 into the water, the mixture is stirred briefly. The dilution cause to finely divided opalescent microemulsions.
- In general, good hydrophobic results are achieved when SILRES® BS 17 is diluted 1:50 to 1:100. The application by decreasing active content should be regularly adjusted to the required concentration. Preliminary tests are always required for the determination of the correct dilution ratio.
