Vinkocide® BIT 10 G

Vinkocide® BIT 10 G is an aqueous-glycolic solution containing 10% 1,2-benzisothiazolin-3-one (BIT) as the active ingredient. It is often sufficient as the sole preservative, although combining it with other biocides can enhance fungicidal efficacy in certain conditions and applications. Highly suitable for preserving various aqueous products, Vinkocide® BIT 10 G offers excellent stability in a broad pH range (3-13) and at high temperatures. Compatibility with most products and raw materials is generally excellent, but individual formulations should be tested for stability. It is ideal for use in aqueous and water miscible systems, offering a broad antimicrobial spectrum against bacteria, fungi, and yeasts. Furthermore, it is free from formaldehyde, formaldehyde releasers, phenolics, heavy metals, or halogens, ensuring excellent chemical stability and long-term efficacy. It also exhibits good compatibility with other raw materials.

Application Notes

In many cases 1,2-Benzisothiazolin-3-one can be used as the only preservative. Depending on the conditions and applications it can be useful to combine it with other biocides to enhance the fungicidal efficacy.
VinkocideTM BIT 10 G is highly suitable for the preservation of a wide variety of aqueous products due to their good properties:

  • Good stability at high pH (3-13)
  • Good stability at high temperatures

Experience shows that the compatibility with most products and raw materials is excellent, but we recommend testing the stability in individual formulations.
Under normal use patterns, 0.1 - 0.4 % VinkocideTM BIT 10 G (w/w) are sufficient in most applications.
