- Kaolinite, also known as kaolin or china clay, is an aluminum hydroxysilicate with the formula Al2Si2O5(OH)4. Its alternating layered tetrahedron/octahedron structure classifies it in 1:1 clays. White, with perfect flaking (001) and lamellar structure is a mineral used in numerous industrial processes.
- The raw mineral is extracted, separated from impurities (sand etc.), washed and processed to obtain different products suitable for various industrial uses: finely micronized, bleached, in pellets etc. The high quality of the kaolin extracted makes it also suitable for "valuable" sectors such as the cosmetic industry.
