DOLOMITE
Dolomite is a double carbonate of Magnesium and Calcium (CaCO3. MgCO3) Theoritically, it contains 21.7 MgO and 30.4 % CaCO3 and the remaining being CO2. How ever in nature much variation takes place in the composition. It is sedimentary origin and is supposed to have been formed due to alteration of Calcium Carbonate sediments or rocks, by seawater rich in magnesia.
CALCITE
Calcite is the most common form of natural Calcium Carbonate. Calcium Carbonate minerals are the most important and abundant of all sedimentary rocks. It occurs in crystalline form in white color. It is many times associated with varying proportion of Magnesium Carbonate.
