- Product Benefits
POLYSTEP B-430S is an ethoxylated lauryl ether sulfate containing 4 moles of ethylene oxide. POLYSTEP B-430S is a suitable APE alternative, offering the advantage of both anionic and nonionic surfactant properties in emulsion polymerization. These properties include good freezethaw and mechanical stability. In addition, ether sulfates aid in the control of particle size and offer good polymerization rates.
- Biodegradability
Product is readily biodegradable.

- Applications
POLYSTEP B-430S is a versatile surfactant:
- Used in the manufacture of styrene acrylic, all acrylic, and vinyl acetate homopolymer and copolymer latexes.
- Useful in most polymer systems, especially with vinyl chloride and styrene butadiene emulsions.
- Aids in the incorporations of water-soluble monomers.
- Often provides good hydrophobicity on dried polymer film
- It is frequently used in conjunction with a nonionic surfactant such as POLYSTEP TD-189 or POLYSTEP F-9.

Packaging & Availability
Storage & Handling
- Storage & Handling
Normal safety precautions (i.e. gloves and safety goggles) should be employed when handling POLYSTEP B-430S. Contact with the eyes and prolonged contact with the skin should be avoided. It is recommended that POLYSTEP B-430S be stored in sealed containers at temperatures above 45°F (7°C). Avoid overheating or freezing. If material has been frozen, mild heat and agitation are recommended to ensure the material is homogeneous before use.
Bulk Storage Information
Tanks made of 316 stainless steel or fiberglass with an Atlac 382 corrosion liner are recommended. Positive displacement gear pumps and piping should be 316 stainless steel. Recommended storage for bulk tanks is 80-100 °F (27-38 °C).
