POLYSTEP A-18-S is an economical, versatile, and biodegradable surfactant; it is supplied unbleached at high pH. POLYSTEP A-18-S is used in vinyl chloride latex manufacture. It is also used in acrylic and styrene acrylic latexes; it functions well at low levels. POLYSTEP A-18 and A-18-S showed better hydrolytic stability than to SLS.

The product is slightly toxic orally (LD50 ~4000 mg/kg) and can cause minimal skin irritation and no eye irritation at 1%.

Storage & Handling
- Storage & Handling
Normal safety precautions (i.e., gloves and safety goggles) should be employed when handling POLYSTEP A-18-S. Avoid contact with eyes, nose or prolonged contact with the skin. Wash thoroughly after handling material. It is recommended that POLYSTEP A-18-S be stored in sealed containers and kept in a cool, dry place. The product may exhibit a tendency to separate if stored below about 50°F. Product should be warmed and agitated to ensure homogeneity prior to use. Preferred storage conditions are 80 - 100 °F.
Bulk Storage Information
POLYSTEP A-18-S should be stored in vessels of 316 stainless steel. Heating and agitation are recommended for outside storage. Material should be stored between 80 - 110°F. Use mild heat if needed avoiding the use of steam since it may impact product integrity. Recirculated warm water is recommended. Pumps, pipes and transfer lines should be 316 stainless steel.
