AMMONYX 4 is a substantive cationic quaternary used in conditioners, cream rinses, mousses and lotions. AMMONYX 4 performs as an emollient as well as a conditioning and antistatic agent. It imparts softness and manageability to hair. Antistatic properties eliminate combing problems and give a smooth feel to hair.

- AMMONYX 4 is slightly toxic orally (LD₅₀ is between 0.5 and 1.25 g/kg in rats), and causes skin and severe eye irritation at concentrations up to 25% active.

Normal safety precautions (i.e. gloves and safety glasses) should be used when handling AMMONYX 4. Contact with the eyes and prolonged contact with the skin should be avoided. Wash thoroughly after handling material. It is recommended that AMMONYX 4 be stored in sealed containers and kept in a cool, dry place. Avoid overheating or freezing. If material is frozen, mild heat and agitation are recommended to ensure the material is homogeneous before use. Bulk Storage Information: AMMONYX 4 can be stored in vessels of 316 stainless steel or fiberglass with a corrosion liner. Contact between quaternaries and anionic materials, soap and sulfated oils must be avoided. AMMONYX 4 should be stored below 120°F (49°C). An internal hairpin coil of 316 stainless steel with low pressure steam (under 50 psig) should be used ifheating is required. Pumps, pipes and transfer lines should be 316 stainless steel.
