SPOLANA s.r.o. (“Spolana”) was founded on 1 May 1992 with the transformation of a state enterprise. Spolana has been part of the ORLEN Unipetrol Group, which is itself part of the PKN Orlen Group, since June 2016. Spolana was a part of the Polish company Zakłady Azotowe ANWIL SA (the company having changed its trade name to ANWIL Spółka Akcyjna on 15 January 2010), which is also part of the PKN Orlen Group, between 2006 and 2016. 

The company is based in Neratovice, its production plant, covering some 260 hectares, 25 km to the north of Prague on the River Elbe. It currently employs more than 700 members of staff.

Spolana mainly concentrates on exporting its products, exporting more than 80 % of that which it produces. The company primarily endeavors to sell its products on the markets of European Union countries having the lowest logistics costs. 

The Spolana production plant is the only manufacturer of PVC (sold under the name of Neralit®) and caprolactam in the Czech Republic. It also produces sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid, oleum, and sulphuric acid. The company also manufactures industrial fertilizer during the manufacture of caprolactam and containing nitrogen in ammonium form and sulfur in the form of sulphuric anhydride. It also contains a small amount of ammonium nitrate, the concentration of which does not exceed 1.5 %. It is used for direct fertilization. The fertilizer is sold under the name of Spolsan® and is manufactured in crystalline and granulated form.

Neralit polyvinyl chloride is produced by suspension polymerisation of vinyl chloride in an aqueous medium in the presence of catalysts and suspension stabilizers. The resulting product is a fine, white, easily-pourable powder made up of grains with narrow particle size distribution. The properties of suspension Neralit PVC powder depend on the additives used during polymerisation, on the temperature regime of polymerisation, on the method and intensity of mixing the suspension, and on a number of other factors at work during production.

It is especially suitable for the production of pressure pipes and window profiles. Extrusion technology on two-worm machines is suitable for processing the product.
