- Product Background
Lavandin is a species that originated from a spontaneous hybridisation of the aspic and so-called true lavender. Unlike lavender, lavandin is referred to as a sterile variety; its cultivation requires human intervention and replication through taking cuttings. Lavandin is grown today in a range of cultivars, such as abrial, super and grosso. The latter cultivar is highly valued for its resilience and essential oil yield and represents more than 80% of the surface area planted with lavandin in France. A higher camphor content differentiates lavandin essential oil from lavender, and makes it a key ingredient in many hygiene products.
