- Mechanism of Action
Zincidone ® is the zinc salt of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid, adual active complexproviding the skin and hair with the beneficial effects of zinc and L-PCA:
- Zincis particularly involved in the synthesis of nucleic acids including DNA, but also in protein synthesis , cell division and in the structure and co-enzymatic activation of many key molecules in the body and the skin. It also plays an important role in cell differentiation and thus exhibits strong healing activity . In addition, it opposes the development of microbial infections thanks to its remarkable antiseptic properties . Also, many scientific works have shown that zinc has the ability to reduce sebum secretion through its inhibitory action on 5 α-reductase. Furthermore, dermal application of zinc preparations has been shown to increase epidermal zinc content.
- L-PCA is able to bind an active molecule and become its carrier . Several studies have indeed shown the significant improvement in the bioavailability of a cation associated with L-PCA compared to its conventional salt.
