The Fuse Pearls technology is a macro-inclusion technology which combines two natural gelling agents: sodium alginate and agar-agar, into a homogenous mixture pearling in a calcium salt bath. This process perfectly calibrated creates a complex inclusion matrix through a double gelling process.
A double gelling process.
Ionic gelation
- Sodium alginate is an ionic gelling agent that reacts with calcium by ionic exchange and form the spherical 3D structure of the calcium alginate pearl.
- The weakness of the ionic bonds give to the pearl its flexibility and spherical structure.
Thermal gelation
- Agar-agar is a thermoreversible gelling agent that is soluble at high temperature. When cooled down, it rearranges into a double helix structure creating a thick gel.
- The double helix structure gives to the pearl its resistance and strength.
The proportion of those two gelling agents is optimized to obtain a pearl with a 3D structure perfectly spherical, with texture changing properties able to melt when applied directly on skin, and strong stability and compatibility in formula.

- SolaSMART® Fuse are enriched with 3% of Fucogel® Powder. In formula, 10% of SolaSMART® Fuse are equivalent to 0.3% of Fucogel® Powder.
- Fucogel® Powder is a fucose-rich polysaccharide obtained by bacterial fermentation from a non-GMO vegetable substrates, containing L-fucose, D-galactose and galacturonic acid.
