- Product Highlights
- The fine precipitated aluminum hydrates are ATH (Aluminum Trihydrate) with a special particle size distribution.
- The flame retandant effect of ATH is based on the endothermic decomposition into aluminum oxide and water: 2Al(OH)₃ –> Al₂O₃ + 3H₂O.
- ATH decomposes at about 220°C. While burning the polymer is protected against the quick decomposition i.e. burning is retarded.
- ATH are used for the production of low-smoke and halogen free flame retarders.
- Advantages
Advantages of fine precipitated aluminum hydrates, as ATHs with a special particle size distribution, are the following:
- Non-toxic
- Soft, Mohs hardness apr. 2,5
- Halogen-free
- Reduction of smoke
- Environmentally friendly
- Good oil and water absorbtion
