- Optimized miscibility in HFO refrigerant R1234yf.
- Superior lubricity compared to alternative lubricant types, including ‘single end-capped’ PAG products, and di-capped PAGs with lower di-capped material content.
- Exceptional Viscosity Index (VI) – The high VI enhances compressor life by ensuring efficient running at temperature extremes. The high VI may also allow the user to select a lower viscosity fluid than typically used, with associated power usage savings.
- Good high temperature and chemical stability, even in presence of water, resulting in system lifetime extension and reduced maintenance costs.
- Low hygroscopicity (tendency to absorb moisture) compared to alternative PAG products with lower di-capping content and vastly superior to single end capped PAGs
- Formulating expertise – ZEROL HD46 series contain optimized additive technology to provide additional corrosion protection within the a/c system, to further enhance the extreme pressure and antiwear performance of the PAG, and to maximize fluid lifetime by ensuring against thermal or oxidative deterioration of the lubricant.
- Excellent electrical resistivity properties for electrically driven systems.

The chemical, thermal and hydrolytic stability of ZEROL® HD46 has been evaluated using ASHRAE 97 sealed glass tube testing. Testing was conducted under standard conditions of 50/50 wt/wt R1234yf/lubricant with 1000ppm & 30,000ppm water at 175°C, for 14 days, and at 190°C for 24 hours. An absence of corrosive or oxidation products on metal coupons (Cu, Al, Fe), combined with excellent color retention, and low post-test TAN values for the lubricant, confirms highest levels of product stability for ZEROL® HD 46 compared to other commercially available standard grades. Detailed test data is available upon specific request to Shrieve.
Miscibility Curves
Miscibility of ZEROL® HD46 in R1234yf refrigerant has been evaluated in accordance with ASHRAE 86 methodology to measure the Critical Solution Temperature (CST) as it varies with lubricant concentration in the refrigerant. Detailed test data is available upon specific request to Shrieve.
Electrical Properties
ZEROL® HD46 achieves electrical property resistance requirements for hermetic electrically driven compressors. ZEROL HD products have been applied in automotive and industrial air conditioning systems as well as refrigeration systems with electrically driven compressors. The data below demonstrates the viability of the product.
