Shandong Freda Biotechnology Natamycin

Shandong Freda Biotechnology Natamycin is an antifungal compound produced by the fermentation of Streptomyces. It belongs to the polyene macrolides. It can not only inhibit the growth of molds and yeasts, but also inhibit the production of mycotoxins. It is widely used in food preservation and anti-fungal treatment. Natamycin has no inhibitory effect on bacteria, so it does not affect the natural maturation process of yogurt, cheese, raw ham, and dried sausage.

Safety & Health

Safety

In June 1982, the US FDA officially approved natamycin as a food preservative. In 1996, the Chinese Food Additive Standard Chemical Technical Committee officially approved natamycin as a food preservative. The FAO/WHO Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives stipulates that the human body can unconditionally accept an intake of 0.3 mg of natamycin per kilogram of body weight per day. JECFA/EC also authorized the approval. The human body usually consumes much less than the safe amount, even the high consumption of cheese and sausages.
