FERROXON® 145, Rutile is mainly used as a white pigment and is listed in the Color Index under CI Pigment White 6 or CI 77891. It is chemically stable, non-toxic and can be found under the label E 171 as a food additive, for example in toothpaste, chewing gum and cough drops, and under CI 77891 as a pigment in cosmetics. It is also sometimes used in oil painting . In the technical field it is used in paints and varnishes , textiles, in paper production to achieve a high degree of whiteness and as a UV blocker in sun creams .
