Salidruff

Salidruff is the most commonly found anti-dandruff agent. It is accepted worldwide and is usually found in emulsion form for opaque shampoos. It is proven antidandruff active with a very good activity against Malassezia fungi. Salidruff (ZPT 48 -50%) is a creamy colored suspension. Salidruff is a strong antifungal and antibacterial agent. It is used as antidandruff agent for a long time and is widely used in various anti-dandruff shampoos.

  • Salidruff is sensitive to strong oxidizing and reducing agents.
  • It is incompatible with EDTA, which, however, does no harm the sterilizing effect of Zinc pyrithione.
  • Salidruff should not be used in products for oral hygiene.
  • Zinc Pyrithione is characterized by its significant lipid solubility dissolves in sebum, and thus the period when effective concentration of the formula is maintained in keratinized epidermal layer is prolonged achieving increased fungicidal activity.

Formulation Guidelines

Between 0.3 to 2.0% in rinse-off applications and 0.1 to 0.25% in leave-on applications. As a preservative up to 1.0% in rinseoff products, 0.5% in leave-on products.
Can be added in the formulation up to 100°C, without affecting the activity.
