- Features
- The 7050 epoxy system is a high mechanical performance gelcoat formulated for the hot production of structural composite parts, requiring very good abrasion resistance and rapid molding cycles.
- Parts made with 7050 Gelcoat will exhibit durable, scratch resistant finishes with good fire resistance. Parts may be repainted after adequate surface preparation.
- Laminates can be removed from the mold quickly after baking in the mold at 50-60°C. The 7050 system can also be used at room temperature.

- Applications
- It is recommended to use the products at a temperature close to 25°C in order to facilitate mixing and impregnation of the reinforcements.
- The application of an ultra slow laminating epoxy resin on the freshly applied gelcoat is possible. In all cases, tests must be carried out in order to validate the method before application on an industrial scale.
- (See photos of aluminum powder coating on page 4)
- The powdering method can be used, the use of aluminum powder of about 60μm to ensure mechanical adhesion gives very good results. The powdering must be carried out just before the system goes into gel, you must not powder too soon because the filler risks burying itself in the gelcoat and there will be no sticking of the covering resin on the powder. of aluminum.
- For information, it is possible to cover the gelcoat with a lamination resin as long as the surface is still tacky (synchronization to be defined by the workshop temperature). We recommend sanding and degreasing the gelcoat before lamination if it has exceeded tack and the surface is hard (tack-free).
- The 7050 system can be applied with a brush.
- The standard process for applying epoxy gelcoats applies to this system.
- A lower temperature increases the viscosity of the mixture as well as its gel time.
