Used as synthetic grape flavoring agent in foods and beverages; in perfume and fruit essence formulations; oxidation inhibitor and sunscreening agent for cosmetics, soaps, alcohols, fatty acids, paraffins, and in protective coatings for picked fruits and vegetables; magnesium metal corrosion inhibitor in jet engine lubricants. Intermediate for ag chemicals, dyes, pharmaceuticals, polyurethane diamine curing agents, an intermediate for difficult to synthesize ortho substituted aromatics, and transesterifications.
