Aquaculture
- Virginia Prime® Gold contains a balanced concentration of the omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA. Researchers have found the growth promoting capacity of EPA and DHA was considerable when an optimal balance of both fatty acids was incorporated into the diet.
Beef & Dairy
- There is evidence that the characteristic omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil, EPA and DHA, have a positive effect on reproduction, improved milk composition, and an increase in Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA), a nutrient found in milk.
Swine
- Virginia Prime® Gold may positively influence reproduction and immunity in swine. Feeding a nutritionally balanced diet is especially important during the reproductive phase. When boars were supplemented with 3% fish oil, their spermatozoa was significantly increased from 30% to 45% and the total amount of sperm per ejaculate was raised. At the University of Missouri researchers fed 3.5-7% fish oil to sows and reported that EPA levels in the sow’s milk were more than six times that of sow’s fed lard as the main fat supplement, with more than half of the effect occurring in the first week of treatment. This transfer of omega-3 fatty acids to nursing pigs could be responsible for strengthening the immune system of the neonate.
Pets
- EPA and DHA function differently and offer their own unique health benefits. EPA reduces inflammation promoting skin and coat as well as bone and joint health while DHA promotes healthy brain development and trainability. Some oils such as tuna oil have high levels of DHA and low levels of EPA. It is important to have a source of fish oil like Virginia Prime® Gold that has a balanced concentration of EPA and DHA to provide all of the health benefits associated with these omega-3 fatty acids.
Poultry
- Texas A&M found that enriching laying hen diets with 3% Virginia Prime® Gold for 18 weeks showed an increase in the n-3 yolk ratio from 18:1 to 3:1 without altering the egg production, weight, yolk fat or yolk cholesterol.

To reduce oxidation of oil, minimize exposure to heat and oxygen sources. Extended storage at temperatures under 45° F could cause stearine crystals to appear. Thaw at room temperature
