ACT is a hybrid surface treatment consisting of vegetable derived amino acid, fatty acid metal soap and silane. Each 
component provides unique properties that synergistically make the ACT treatment one of the most effective treatments 
developed to date. (USP 6,482,441.) ACT treatment is applied to pigments and cosmetic substrates using Miyoshi America’s 
proprietary unique process, which allows for micronization and uniform surface treatment of individual particles.

Over 15 years ago, Miyoshi Kasei introduced its novel Amino Acid surface treatment technology for cosmetic applications. 
This patented technology, designated NAI (replacing the original AI, animal-derived treatment) is based on the chemical 
bonding of Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate to pigments and substrates. The NAI treatment was quickly embraced worldwide 
because of its unique benefits. The Compatibility of NAI treated pigments in silicone-based systems has been amply 
demonstrated by their usage in a number of commercially available W/S liquid foundations. NAI and NAID is longwearing 
and provides a moist, dewy feel while being much easier to disperse in oils and silicones.

The Miyoshi 
Group has developed a large range of multi-functional porous and 
non-porous silica beads. Silica beads provide slip, fluidity and 
spreadability in both powder and liquid systems. 
They also offer soft-focus and sebum/oil absorption properties. 
The porous type can also be used as an active carrier such as 
Hyaluronic Acid to facilitate the formulation of active ingredients in 
products and their release control in application. 
Silica beads are also available with surface treatment to provide 
additional value-added benefits such as strong hydrophobicity, 
excellent dispersibility into oil, and additional enhanced feel.

The MiyoSHADE line of inorganic Titanium Dioxide powder 
sunscreens provide some of the most effective and safest protection while providing long lasting and water resistant 
properties. These sunscreens are registered with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States and also 
comply with the Annex VI of Cosmetic Regulation 1223/2009 opinion in the European Union.

MiyoSHADE

MiyoAQUA is a hydrophilic surface treatment based on alginate. This anionic polysaccharide is found naturally in oceans 
around the world in the cell walls of brown algae and kelp. Inorganic pigments such as iron oxide and pigmentary titanium 
dioxide surface treated with sodium alginate are highly hydrophilic and provide excellent dispersibility and re-dispersibility 
into the water phase.

Texture is a crucial factor that consumers rely on to determine a sense of a product’s quality. Texture plays a large role in the perception of product performance across many categories, but it is especially key for cosmetic products. MiyoFEEL SXI-L is a unique composite of silica coated homogenously on mica, surface treated with a natural Lecithin treatment. The result is a silky-soft feeling powder with excellent water repellency, good spreadablity, and natural coverage. Incident light is refracted by the silica beads / mica composite and provides a soft-focus effect

Triethoxycaprylylsilane treated pigments offer benefits of both silicone and hydrocarbon treatments with the presence of hydrocarbon chain on silicone backbone. Alkyl Silane treated pigments have excellent dispersibility in various oils including; esters, mineral oils, plant oils and silicone fluids. The lipophilic caprylyl group offers excellent hydrophobicity and unique creamy/adhesive feel in powders and liquid formulations. It allows for good coverage onto the skin due to its affinity with sebum.

MiyoSYN Matte (low luster grade) is newly added to MiyoSYN Fine (high luster grade) in the MiyoSYN series. These two products from the MiyoSYN Series help to control Radiance - Matte level depending on the desired look. MiyoSYN series range provides the opportunity to play with the radiance level with 2 different aspect ratios: MiyoSYN Fine aspect ratio is 55-65, and MiyoSYN Matte aspect ratio is 22-50

MiyoFEEL SXI-L

Sunscreen products containing mineral sunscreens, particularly those containing zinc oxide, consistently rate as the safest products on the market. Zinc oxide is stable in sunlight and offers a good balance of protection from both UVB and UVA ultraviolet radiation. MiyoSHADE Z Plus is a non-nano zinc oxide sunscreen, surface treated with Miyoshi’s hybrid silicone that provides enhanced benefits such as broad spectrum coverage, smooth texture, and compatibility with many solvents

Sericite S-150 is a natural origin mineral that aids in the spreading of cosmetics. Its characteristic in formulations provides excellent spreadability and a smooth texture resulting in a natural matte finish. Miyoshi is able to offer a variety of innovative surface treatments to Sericite S-150 to provide new properties to the product such as our patented silky-smooth Dimethicone (SA) treatment for a luxurious feel.
