- Mycotoxins and toxins are secondary metabolites respectively produced by fun- gi (Aspergillus, Fusarium, Penicillium,...) and bacteria (E. coli, Clostridium, Staphylococcus,...).
- Mycotoxins and toxins impair animal health and immune status of the animals. They are difficult to identify because they do not induce specific symptoms.
- For mycotoxins, a recent global study has shown that 30% of feedstuffs are contaminated by a single mycotoxin and nearly 50% are contaminated by several mycotoxins.
