Science
- The skin cell renewal process is responsible to provide smoothness, brightness and hydration to the skin. With age this rate decreases inducing the accumulation of dead corneocytes in the stratum corneum (SC), which contributes in making the skin become thicker, dehydrated and dull.
- Maintaining proper hydration levels is key in ensuring a correct shedding process of corneocytes. The SC is rich in hydrolytic enzymes that, in the presence of water, assist in breaking down corneodesmosomes in a single-cell manner. When moisture levels are lowered, the activity of such endogenous enzymes is lost and desquamation happens in larger clusters of cells, resulting in flaky and scaly skin.
- Actifoliate™ advanced botanical ingredient accelerates the shedding of the SC through a single-cell enzymatic exfoliation. It ensures a selective desquamation without barely any signs of stinging or irritation. With ingredients that are expected to provide hydration and through a safe and gentle exfoliation, Actifoliate™ advanced botanical ingredient demonstrates a soft but effective exfoliating capacity. Therefore, it fulfills the necessity of epidermal renewal for a better appearance.
