- Product Highlights
Talc in paint and coatings
- The utilization of talc lead to extreme advantages in paint and coatings. Talc is used primarily in industrial paint and coatings, wood lacquers, printing inks, fillers as well as in various coatings.
- Due to the characteristics of talc, it is outstandingly suitable for paints and coatings. The lamellar, hydrophobic and chemical inert structure of talc makes it to a perfect filler for the industry.
- Talc increases coverage and weather resistance of the products.
- The use of talc creates a barrier effect, which limits the penetration of water and corrosive agents into paints and coatings. This properties lead to a reduction in bubble formation, corrosion and peeling.
Talc in paper production
- During the paper production talc leads to huge benefits during the process and for the products.
- Talc can be used in paper recycling as well as in new production of paper, pulp and cardboard as filler.
- The characteristic properties of talc prevent pitch agglomeration within the production machine.
- The use of talc improves the properties of the finished products, in-creases the quality and reduces the production costs.
Talc in plastics
- The application spectrum for talc in plastics is nearly unlimited.
- Talc can be used among other things in automotive industry, food packaging industry, for white goods, cases for laptops, window pro-files and polypropylene production.
- During the production process and in the application the material act as a functional filler (for example as an anti-caking agent, a pro-cessing aid inert carrier and absorbent, etc.)
- The use of talc improves the specific characteristics of plastics an increases the quality, therefore purity, aspect ratio, particle size dis-tribution and whiteness are the determining factors.
- Effects and benefits
Talc in paint and coatings
- Extension of durability through
- Improves the resistance and prevents cracking and peel of
- Water-repellent effect
- Increases the viscosity and facilitate dispersion
- Improves the weather and UV resistance
- Reduction of solvents – decrease VOC
- Improves the adhesion of the coating film
Talc in paper production
- Lowers the abrasion of paper machine fabrics and mechanical elements
- Effective pitch control
- Improving runability
- Enhances the printability of the finished paper
- Improves plant productivity and paper quality (fewer spots, defects, holes)
- Increased compressibility and maximized color transfer
- Opacity improvement
- Cost saving
Talc in plastics
- Through its laminar structure and the high aspect ratio of talc the stiffness increase.
- Talc acts as a lubricant and is partic-ularly gentle to machines
- Increases the scratch resistance
- A pure talc, with a low loss of igni-tion and a high aspect ratio, helps keep plastics parts dimensionally stable.
- Increases resistance to UV radia-tion
- Variation of the flow properties
- Ideal anti-blocking agent
- Extremely fine talc acts as nucleation excipient and increases the heat re-sistance and crystallization tempera-ture of plastics.
