Fogging in plastic films is the formation of small discrete droplets of water on the surface of transparent plastic films.

Lifeline Technologies ANTI-FOG

Sunlight together with heat and oxygen induces reactions of degradation in plastics, causing detrimental effects on their mechanical, optical and physical properties. The result is breakage, chalking and discoloration. Outdoor weathering results in degradation by exposure to the ultraviolet part of sunlight which reaches the earth’s surface, at wavelengths between 300 and 400 nanometres. Environmental factors like temperature, humidity, oxygen, polluting gasses also play an important role.

Most polymers go through oxidative degradation processes during manufacturing and subsequent compounding and processing. Oxidation and heat aging are major causes of degradation of plastics. Exposure to heat and oxygen causes a chain reaction involving the formation of free-radicals, which inevitably leads to cleavage of the main chains in the polymer and degradation of the plastic. This is manifested in many difference ways including loss of shine and transparency, yellowing, surface cracking and odors. Oxidation can also result in loss of mechanical properties such as impact resistance, elongation and tensile strength.

Impact Modifiers are substances that increase the durability of molded or extruded plastics, especially those that need to be constantly subjected to impact forces like cold weather. They are added to compounded materials to provide performance features.

Lifeline Technologies MODIFIER – MATT EFFECT, IMPACT MODIFIER

Articles made with thermoplastic polymers are often required to have an improved and brilliant white appearance. PP, PA, PET fibers, whether colorless or white-pigmented, can be produced in brighter and more attractive shades by incorporating selected additives based on optical brighteners. Optical brightner masterbatch enhance the whiteness and compensate the original inherently yellowish shade of many thermoplastic polymers.

Due to increasing demands in fire protection regulations it has become necessary to modify the flame retardancy behavior of plastics. Flame retardants action is to retard the flammability of plastics in order to minimize their ignition properties and burning behavior such as flame propagation, smoke, and heat. We can offer Halogenated and Non-halogenated Flame Retardant Additive, Masterbatch and Compound based on the end application.
