Technical Details & Test Data
- Aqueous Solutions
- Solutions of bleached shellac in basic aqueous media are readily obtainable up to a solids content of approx. 30%.
- Organic Solvent Solutions
- TIGERLAC™ 5050 CHLORINE-FREE is readily soluble in low-molecular weight alcohols (e.g., ethanol, n-and iso-propanol) and some glycol derivatives (e.g., propyl glycol, butyl glycol), in benzylalcohol and others.
Packaging & Availability
Storage & Handling
- Storage and Transport
- Keep cool and dry. The shelf life of bleached shellacs will be more than 12 months if stored/transported at temperatures <20 degrees C (55 degrees F). Higher temperatures will accelerate aging of the solid material and raise the risk of "blocking" especially under the influence of humidity. The solubility of this shellac should be checked periodically as a precautionary measure. Because of the reasons above, we recommend refrigerated transport.
