Liceryl™ 12

Liceryl™-12, a powerful ester derived from linoleic fatty acids, designed to elevate your cosmetic formulations. Acting as a co-surfactant with emollient and solubilizing properties, Liceryl™-12 helps reduce skin erythema and minimizes disruption to the skin barrier, often caused by surfactant penetration. Synthesized with glycerin, an endogenous component of the skin known for its humectant properties, and rich in omega-6 fatty acids from soybean oil, this ingredient enhances transparency in solutions. In cleansing products, Liceryl™-12 increases micelle size, reducing the risk of irritation and dehydration, ensuring gentle yet effective cleansing. Perfect for modern, skin-friendly formulations.

Technical Details & Test Data

The Solutions

Liceryl™-12 will increase the average diameter of SDS-micelles.

Clinical Efficacy

Effects of Liceryl™-12 in reducing SDS-induced skin barrier function disruption and erythema

  • Occlusive patches containing water, SDS, Liceryl™-12 or SDS/Liceryl™-12 combinations were applied on the skin of 15 subjects for 24 hours
  • TEWL and skin erythema were measured 15 minutes, 4 hours and 24 hours upon patch removal

Reduction of TEWL

  • The addition of LicerylTM-12 to SDS micelles prevents damages to the barrier function

Reduction of erythema

  • The addition of Liceryl™-12 to SDS micelles reduces skin erythema

Dynamic Light Scattering

  • Formation of micelles with an average diameter superior to that of SDS
