Technical Details & Test Data

Mechanism of Action

SEBORILYS combats the 4 phenomena responsible for acne formation: hyperseborrhoea, hyperkeratinization, microbial growth and inflammation.

This active ingredient combines the anti-androgenic activity of willowherb tannins which slow down the sebum production, the astringent activity of terminalia, the antimicrobial effect of nasturtium and the anti-inflammatory effect of zinc from microalga.

Scientific Process

Hormonal factors play a key role in sebaceous secretions. Androgens stimulate sebum production, whereas oestrogens decrease it.
As soon as it enters the cell, testosterone is converted to dihydrotestosterone by 5-α-reductase, which is in the sebaceous gland. It is recognized that inhibition of this enzyme leads to reduced sebum secretion. The astringent action refines skin grain and limits sebaceous secretions.

Proven Efficacy - In Vitro Test

INHIBITION OF 5-α-REDUCTASE ACTIVITY

  • SEBORILYS (at a concentration of 5%) significantly inhibits dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and androstenedione production

Seborilys DN - Proven Efficacy - in Vitro Test

ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY

  • SEBORILYS inhibits the proliferation of Propionibacterium acnes, Corynebacterium xerosis and Pytirospirum ovale, characteristic of dandruff problems. This antimicrobial effect is due to the sulfur compounds contained in SEBORILYS, in particular glucotropeoline, a glucosinolate derived from nasturtium.
Proven Efficacy - In Vivo Test

SEBUM REGULATING ACTIVITY

  • Sebum secretion is reduced by 75% (at a concentration of 5%) and for 28 days
