Technical Details & Test Data
- Mechanism of Action
A potent antioxidant, vitamin C stops free radical cascade reactions. It is also involved in pro-collagen synthesis and its conversion to functional collagen. It also limits pigmentation by inhibiting tyrosinase.
- Scientific Process
- Vitamin C traps and neutralizes free radicals. It is also involved in the modulation of enzyme activities by controlling the replication of proαI, proα2 and proα3 genes, serving as a hydroxylase cofactor and increasing the production of hydroxyproline, the main constituent of collagen.
- Depigmenting agent, it inhibits tyrosinase, the enzyme involved in the initial steps of the pigmentation process.
