- Product Background
- Royal Tea IQ is a triple strength purple powerhouse supporting the skin's role to defend against environmental insults (UV & blue light), regulate circadian rhythms and maintain homeostasis in the skin. The color purple has long been associated with royalty because of the original rarity of the natural colorants used for purple dye. Anthocyanins are the rare purple bio molecules of the plant kingdom, and are nobly known as an adaptive advantage to environmental stresses, such as visible and UVB-radiation, drought and cold temperatures. The broad spectrum of antioxidants found in Royal Tea IQ act as Life Protection Factors to help the skin counteract the oxidative effects of visible, W, blue, and infrared lights, and help to resynchronize skin circadian rhythm.
- Bio-Hacked BCRW fermentation combines probiotics with an antioxidant powerhouse combination of purple tea, purple rice and purple sweet potato prebiotic superfoods. Our proprietary fermentation technology yields a POSTBIOTIC broth brimming with micronutrients designed to support the skin's microbiome. The use of friendly probiotics — Lactobacillus plantarum and Saccharomyces boulardi — to ferment superfoods is a clean and sustainable methodology for obtaining unique ingredients for use in personal care.
The Prebiotics:
- The Foundation of Royal Tea IQ Purple sweet potato (Ipomoea Batatas), also known as Okinawan potato, is a new kind of potato that is low in carbohydrates and fats and rich in fiber and vitamins. The color source of the tuber is based on anthocyanins. The peonidin-based anthocyanin components in purple sweet potato, have shown through in vitro testing to have beneficial results in scavenging 2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl hydrazyl (DPPH) radicals and superoxide anions.
- Riceberry is a newly developed strain of Thai rice, with the aim of providing optimum nutrients to consumers. The Riceberry bran has significant antioxidant activity, and high levels of other beneficial constituents, including beta carotene, folate, vitamin E, vitamin Bl, and tannins. Studies using anthocyanins from Riceberry exhibit a reduction of interleukin I-a. This enyzyme is the signaling molecule responsible for inducing MMPs (matrix metalloproteinase), which are a main cause for the breakdown of glycosaminoglycans and collagen in the skin. Riceberry supports natural skin protection from skin degrading stressors.
- Purple Tea is a new variety of Camellia Sinensis with red-purple colored leaves that are rich in anthocyanins. Purple tea trees grow at high elevation, with increased exposure to UV light, thus the leaves contain significantly higher levels of the potent polyphenols GHG, EGCG, and ECG, than green, black, or oolong teas. In vitro studies show that EGCG counteracts the disruptive effect of UV light on TIMP3 expression, which is our skins natural inhibitor against the deleterious effect of MMPs. Furthermore, an additional study shows purple tea and GHG result in a significant increase of BMAL 1 clock gene expression, resulting in delayed cellular aging. Of the genes estimated to show circadian expression in the skin, BMALI is one of the most important for premature cellular aging.
- There is accumulating evidence that dysregulation of the clock mechanisms leads to increased generation and accumulation of ROS and oxidative stress. Long term exposure to blue light, from both natural outdoor light and electronic devices, produces an increase of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and a down-regulation of aquaporins (the water channels of our skin). The many different polyphenols found in Royal Tea IQ deliver full spectrum antioxidant protection to defend against the damaging effects of light exposure (blue, W, visible and infrared) and resynchronize skin circadian rhythm.
