"Ullrich Wendeln and Ullrich Meyer shared an idea of ​​using sunflower pods as a filler and reinforcing material in plastics, which quickly gave rise to a solid business idea. Together with Peter Wendeln as an investor, they eventually founded SPC Sunflower Plastic Compound GmbH.
Golden Compound GmbH was founded in 2014 and has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of SPC Sunflower Plastic Compound GmbH since the beginning of 2016. Since the foundation, we have been working intensively on the development of materials with sunflower peel. In October 2014, we started the production of 3,000 tons of S²PC (Sustainable Sunflower Plastic Compound) per year and the marketing of our materials in a newly built plant in Ladbergen in North Rhine-Westphalia. We currently have various materials in our portfolio: Golden Compound pro (durable) and Golden Compound green (home-compostable) and are continuously expanding our production capacities."
