- Applications
Traditional use:
Hops extracts are used in herbal medicines to treat symptoms such as restlessness, anxiety and sleep disorders. In folk medicine, hops are also used externally for the treatment of skin injuries and internally for cystitis.
In food:
Hops extracts are mainly used in the beer industry for flavoring and preservation. Due to its characteristic flavor the extract can also be used in beverages, confectionery, bakery products or dairy products.
In food supplements:
Due to its physiological effect and traditional use, hop extract is also suitable for use in food supplements.
In cosmetics:The extract can be used in perfumes with aromatic, herbal notes. Hops also gives dark hair a beautiful shine and is therefore also well suited for use in hair care products [4]. Due to its good effectiveness against gram-positive bacteria, hop extract is also a good additive for deodorizing soaps, shower gels, deodorant sticks and aerosol sprays, as gram-positive bacteria are responsible for unpleasant body odors.
